According to ESPN, Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry stated that the team plans to sit superstar Anthony Davis until after the trade deadline on Thursday, Feb 7th.

"He is [available], but we're not going to play him until after the trading deadline," said Gentry. "I think everybody can understand that."Davis is not eligible to become a free agent until summer of 2020, so even with his recent request, there’s still a long way to go.

The Los Angeles Lakers are believed to be the frontrunners of the trade’s contenders, with the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks following on the 25-year-old center’s list.

According to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times, the Lakers were ready to give up players Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, Ivica Zubac, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and another two first-round selections in exchange for Anthony Davis and Solomin Hill.

But sources told ESPN that the Lakers’ management will not be adding any more to their existing trade offer for Davis.

It’s apparent that the Lakers have grown frustrated with the Pelicans’ “outrageous” trade requests, and are waiting for them to make a counter-proposal.

Coach Gentry has made a point to keep calm, cool and collected amidst all of the heat surrounding the Davis trade.

"Obviously, it's on everyone's mind," Gentry said. "But we just try to put it on the backburner, and focus on the task at hand. I think everything kind of clears up [after Davis is traded], at least for a while. And you can go back to I guess whatever our new normal is going to be. "It's just part of it. It's part of the business, and you just deal with it like you would anything else." (ESPN).
