Will Boston’s Brilliant Rebuild Ultimately “Steal” Victory From the Cavs?

May 22, 2018

The Boston Celtics surely aren’t the team they once were in years past.

The Celtics’ General Manager Danny Ainge was able to accomplish an unforgettable rebuild that will go down in NBA history by using just the right amount of patience and careful decision-making.

But naturally, not everyone can be so content with Ainge’s impressive abilities. According to Jason Lloyd of The Athletic, an unnamed Cavs player was quoted to say that "Danny Ainge is a f-----g thief” (referring to Kyrie Irving’s transition to the Celtics) while the Cavs were experiencing some difficulties this past winter.

It seems as though Ainge’s knack for smart drafting goes beyond just Kyrie Irving - with rising players Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier also thriving to new heights. But where would this leave Gordon Hayward & Kyrie Irving if they make the Finals? Something to think about.

While the Celtics sadly didn’t thrive in these past Games 3 and 4, the fact remains that they still have a series tied 2-2 against the Cavs - making the upcoming games all the more interesting.

“Sometimes it doesn’t always work out like how we wanted. I think we go into every game feeling like we can win”, said Rozier of Game 3. “No disappointment. No disappointment. Just all the credit goes to them. We gotta play better. We can’t win them all.”

Well said, Terry.

We’ll be watching closely tomorrow at 8:30 when the two teams go head to head in a highly anticipated Game 5.
