After three incredible weeks, The Young3 ventured out to the northeast for this weeks camp. More specifically our journey took us to South Side Boys and Girls Club in Providence, Rhode Island. About 180,000 people proudly call this city home, a city which was founded all the way back in 1636! We are excited to report we had a great turnout at today’s camp as around 100 members of the youth showed up, some even making the trip from Connecticut to participate in today’s Young3 camp. What a blessing for all of us.
As per usual your Young3 coaching staff consisted of: Jerome Williams, Johnnie Williams, Charles “Choo” Smith, Eric “Broadway” Jones, Erin Thorn, Desmond Farmer, James “Hollywood” Robinson, Kevin Whitted, Bryan Burrell, Lamar Lundy, and Liam Blutman. Today we were excited to introduce something new to the table… A 2 v 2 4-point shootout between some of our coaches. Desmond and Hollywood squared off against Erin and Kevin. Desmond and Hollywood jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first to four setup. Then Erin went out there and with ice in her veins, drained three straight fours to clinch the title. Needless to say this gym went berserk as Erin was absolutely unconscious, that was just too easy for her!
When that 3 on 3 tournament came around this gym was about to blow the roof off the place! We had kids singing, dancing, cheering, just having a great time in general. Jerome happily exclaimed, “Providence was off the chain. Not only were the kids on fire for the games but the dance contest in between had the whole crowd jumping.” We can’t stress enough how much we all loved the atmosphere at South Side Boys and Girls Club and it’s nice to see how the youth and their parents can’t wait for us to come back! Here’s to hoping BIG3 returns to Providence next year because we’d love to come back and work with everyone at this particular Boys and Girls Club as well!
Shoutout to Mike Taylor of the Ghost Ballers for showing up and making a positive impact. Mike was out there dancing with kids, taking pictures, signing autographs, and making everybody laugh. It was great to see Mike come out to our event and shine a bright light for these young boys and girls, they really enjoyed and appreciated his presence.
We are happy to add six more names to the Young3 All-Team. Here is your Rhode Island team… (Give them a follow on Instagram too!)

All in all it was a very fun, enjoyable and rememberable Young3 experience here in the tiniest State. We all appreciate the greatness that you were Providence. Y’all set the expectation bar really high for the coming weeks! We’ll be in Kansas City, Missouri next week.
