Stephen Curry Among Other Top Athletes Involved in Covid-19 Relief Fund

“This is bigger than one agency or athlete or country. This is global.”

Finally, we’re here with some positive news amidst this global coronavirus pandemic.

Over 115 athletes, coaches and sports figures from 13 countries, including six-time NBA All-Star Stephen Curry, have come together to help raise money for the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP)’s COVID-19 Response Fund – a fund that aims to provide support to those battling the widespread disease.

Curry, along with the many sports personalities involved, have donated signed items of value that will be raffled to donors who contribute a minimum of $25 to the cause.

“Right away, so many athletes were asking how could they help. What could they do?” said David Schwab, executive vice president of sports agency Octagon.

Schwab helped to bring the CDP’s “Athletes for Relief” program idea into fruition.

It has already garnered over $63,000 in donations, and is welcoming plenty more as it runs through May 1st when winners are selected.

“To have so many athletes put their name to this sort of program and use their platform to be part of a collective campaign to bring attention to this really important cause, it’s just incredibly valuable,” said Patty McIlreavy, president and CEO of the CDP that works toward achieving disaster relief through the help of the philanthropic community.

To learn more about the program, or to be entered into a raffle for an exciting piece of memorabilia donated by an athlete of your choice, please visit https://athletesrelief.org/ to make a minimum $25 donation.

“This is bigger than one agency or athlete or country,” said Schwab. ”This is global.”
